Dear Lovelies,

Have you ever wondered about the origin of holidays? I do. Being curious about what holidays fall in the month of July led me down a crazy, winding rabbit hole. Just in the month of July are some of the following holidays:

  • Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day (July 1)
  • I Forgot Day (July 2)
  • Compliment Your Mirror Day (July 3)
  • Independence Day & Sidewalk Egg Frying Day (July 4)
  • Workaholics Day (July 5)
  • International Kissing Day (July 6)
  • National Strawberry Sundae Day (July 7)
  • Cow Appreciation Day (July 8 – or the second Tuesday)
  • National Dimples Day (July 9)
  • Teddy Bear Picnic Day (July 10)
  • National Blueberry Muffins Day (July 11)
  • National Different Colored Eyes Day (July 12)
  • Embrace Your Geekness Day (July 13)
  • Pandemonium Day (July 14)
  • Give Something Away Day (July 15)
  • Fresh Spinach Day (July 16)
  • World Emoji Day (July 17)
  • World Listening Day (July 18)
  • Stick Out Your Tongue Day (July 19)
  • Ugly Truck Day (July 20)
  • National Junk Food Day (July 21)
  • Hammock Day (July 22)
  • Picnic Table Day (July 23)
  • Tell an Old Joke Day (July 24)
  • Threading the Needle Day (July 25)
  • All or Nothing Day (July 26)
  • Take Your Pants for a Walk Day (July 27)
  • National Milk Chocolate Day (July 28)
  • National Lipstick Day (July 29)
  • Paperback Book Day (July 30)
  • National Avocado Day (July 31)

Still curious, I looked up a few of them, for example, “I Forgot Day” is an opportunity to express your regrets for forgetting something, and to make amends, possibly by sending cards and flowers, and apologizing for your memory lapse. The hope for “Cow Appreciation Day” is stop and appreciate all that cows provide for us – maybe you can reflect at a Chick-Fil-A billboard.

On “Give Something Away Day,” the objective is to brighten up someone’s life by giving them something you no longer need, that they could use. Basically, what it boils down to is that if you want to celebrate something, odds are there is a day for that. Or even better, celebrate every day regardless of its title, thus…

Happy Day!
