Isaiah 43:19 – “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
As we move into the summer months, June invites us to slow down just enough to notice what is happening all around us. In the busyness of summer schedules and vacations, take a minute to notice the many bright spots around St. Mark’s…the ways God is at work among us — in both the big moments and the quiet ones.
Sometimes we see God at work in obvious ways: a joyful worship service, a successful ministry event, new members joining our church family, or a meaningful conversation. But just as often, God gives us bright spots in smaller ways — through a shared meal, a kind word, or a volunteer quietly stepping up and serving behind the scenes.
As a church council, we continue to see signs of God’s bright spots throughout our congregation. We are grateful for the many people who give their time, talents, prayers, and presence to help our ministries thrive. Every act of service, no matter how visible or hidden, is truly a gift.
This summer ask yourself…where is God inviting you – and St. Mark’s – into something new? Perhaps that means joining a ministry team, attending a fellowship event, participating in a service project, inviting someone to church, or simply reaching out to someone you have not seen in a while. Sometimes the smallest “yes” is a big bright spot to others around you.
As we celebrate Traci’s many contributions to St. Mark’s and joyfully celebrate her, we are organized, proactive, and ready to take on the year ahead. With this transition comes new opportunities for Council boards, committees, and our staff to grow and evolve. God is at work at St. Mark’s, and there is always a place for you to be a part of it.
If you notice a particular program or ministry…or simply want to lend a hand with whatever needs done…please reach out to me or any member of Council. We’ll help you find a way to contribute, and we’ll provide clear resources and support to do so.
As we continue celebrating our 75th anniversary year, we give thanks not only for where God has led St. Mark’s in the past, but also for the new opportunities ahead. Let’s stay attentive to the ways God creates bright spots all around us — and open to how we are being called to participate.
Growing Together,
Leah Gradl
Council President
